DESIGN DEMANDS LABOR is a growing network of landscape architects, architects, and allied design and construction professionals who believe workforce stability is a Health, Safety, and Welfare issue that cannot be ignored.

We are coming together to reframe and contextualize the national conversation about immigration in the AEC and landscape industries—not as a partisan debate, but as a shared project-delivery and community-outcome challenge.

Collectively, our firms span 15 states across the country and represent design and oversight on projects that generate tens of millions of dollars in construction value each year. This gives us a unique perch to speak about how labor shortages, absentee workers, and enforcement pressures translate into real-world impacts on housing, public works, parks, schools, and private residential developments.

If you are an architect, landscape architect, engineer, contractor, or allied professional who wants to help normalize this conversation in your firm, chapter, or jurisdiction, we invite you to join us. Whether by sharing your own stories, adapting our language, or hosting a session, your voice amplifies a simple truth: project delivery depends on a stable, respected workforce.
